We are figuring out being around one another again, and that is why this is just.
[ Hugo does not shy away from reaching out to gently bat those fingers. If that was true, then he wouldn't have had reason to hesitate, not snap at Lycaon. It is something he is keeping to himself, but he does realize he still has a ways to go before he can comfortably do something like that. ]
It's also worked for me, but he's on the app now. If we don't prepare him for the worst, what will he do when he's suddenly bubbled in hell with total strangers?
[ Sure, Hugo doesn't think it's going to be exactly like that, but something will always inevitably happen.
... And just to make sure Caleb believes him, he's going to voice record that granting of permission and send it on to Shy & Scruffy. ]
I get it. [ behind the teasing, the gentle needling, there is understanding. originally Molly had planned on explaining some things come morning, a nice little story time with pancakes before he indulged in the wolfman's soft and luxurious tail. he had gotten a bit of their past out of them, it only felt fair to shine a light on why he had reacted that way.
but now Caleb's been invited to breakfast and he has to pivot.
Molly brings up a hand to his eyes. ] Wanted to crawl out of my own skin when I met up with Caleb. How are you supposed to act around the guy you fancied and then died in front of? [ he laughs, bitter. ] I really hate this past lives shit.
[ hates that it keeps creeping up on him every time he tries to push it back down. hates that there isn't enough alcohol, drugs, or good lays to keep his mind blank and blissful. ]
Honestly? Out of all the people on the app, Caleb's one of the few who wouldn't immediately freak out. I watched him incinerate a man once.
[ granted the wizard had gone catatonic right after forcing Molly to slap him across the face and try to bring him back to them. ]
[ The news of Caleb incinerating a man only slightly put's Hugo on edge. Knowing the man was capable of protecting himself was good. Knowing he was capable of incineration was not a concern Hugo carried often. Wizards and magical folk existed. That wasn't surprising. It was knowing one was going to be close and a fixture that made him rearrange how handling Caleb was going to go in the future.
Less concern for the scruffy man, more focus on the issues before him.
With a breath, he sends the recording off to said wizard and then sets the phone off to the side. It wouldn't need it anymore that night.]
If the love was meant to be there, you'll find it again. All you have to do is start at the beginning. Find your footing and what still exists, and then move forward. It will happen, or it won't.
