[Ultimately, Lia actually ended up dithering a little on what she wanted to actually bring.
Unfortunately, while Molly said he wasn't picky... Lia really would've preferred to bring him something to his tastes, and that left her with indecision paralysis... Eventually, she just grabbed a box set of a series she had on hand and a couple movies and shoved those along with her Switch into her bag.
As far as food went... honestly, they could probably just order takeout or something. This did not mean Lia was going to show up empty-handed, she did have some cookies she made earlier (lemon and blueberry ones, because listen, when you have a lot of summer fruit to get rid of...).
At least the simple part was actually getting to Molly's apartment. Never mind the quick detour she took. The detour was vital. For reasons.
All in all, despite the delays, it did not actually take her long to show up and knock on the door.]
[ a part of him regrets agreeing to her suggestion, thinks that it is a terrible idea and he should call her and just call the whole thing off. he's not the best person to be around right now, he can feel that much, but the thought of being alone makes his stomach twist and his blood run cold.
he practically jumps out of his skin when he hears the knock at his door, taking a second to remember that it could really only be Lia. he has to move Frumpkin from his lap as he gets up but the ghost cat resettles pretty much immediately. ]
Hey there, Sunflower.
[ he opens the door with a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes, he takes a step back and motions for her to come inside. ]
[She steps inside, giving Molly an uncertain smile.
Okay. Inhale, exhale. This really shouldn't be such a big deal, and yet here she is, worrying anyway.]
Hi, Molly. I, uh. Brought stuff.
[Nailed it.
She'll kind of awkwardly shuffle away from the doorway so Molly can close the door, sliding her turtle shell backpack from her back, balancing it on a knee as she opens it. Out come the container of cookies ... and a bottle of red wine.]
Um. Here. I don't really drink or anything--old hangup--but I... I figured you could probably use it.
[ the door is closed behind her as she balances her backpack on her knee, the tiefling tilting his head curiously watching her dig around inside it. the cookies makes his eyes widen in surprise, a hand going out to take hold of the container of cookies, but it's the bottle of red wine that brings a laugh to his lips. ]
You shouldn't have. [ and yet she did. this kind and wonderful girl effortlessly predicting just how much he could go for a drink right about now. ] But I'm glad you did.
[ Molly shifts, leaning down to press a quick kiss to the top of her head before padding past her into the open plan living room. notably he places the bottle of wine on the kitchen counter but makes no move to open it, instead making a bee-line for the couch and flopping down on top of it. ]
C'mere, there's someone I've got to introduce you too.
[With Molly having taken the cookies and the wine, she zips the backpack back up for now. Looks like that little detour she took on the way over paid off.
The kiss to the top of her head earns a giggle as she follows behind him. Already, she's so much more at ease.
She follows when he makes a bee-line for the couch, and carefully takes a seat. She lets her backpack sit on the floor near her feet.]
Yeah. [ he grins casting a glance around the living room. ] Hey Frumpkin! Come out and say hello.
[ at first there is nothing but silence in response to his call, then the air in front of them shifts and a bengal cat just appears sitting on the coffee table looking at them both intently. ]
Lia, this is Frumpkin my ghost cat. Frumpkin, this is Lia. She knows Hugo.
[Her expression lights up as the cat appears and almost immediately, she offers a hand for the ghost cat to investigate. She's always had a soft spot for cats.]
Hi there, Frumpkin. [She looks over to Molly, grinning a little.] Frumpkin's really pretty.
[ Frumpkin leans forward to sniff her hand then headbutts it affectionately, a content purr coming from the beasts chest as he rubs his head against her hand. the cat then stands up and jumps from the coffee table to the couch, immediately laying down and making himself comfortable between them. ]
Isn't he? Handsome little bastard. Pretty sure he knows it too, look at him making himself comfortable in just the right spot where he can get pets from us both.
[ despite his words he reaches to scratch the cat behind the eat affectionately with one of his claws. ]
